MEMBERSHIP DISCOUNTS AND DOORBUSTERS RING IN BLACK FRIDAY AT THE DCM

WILMINGTON, DE — Holiday shoppers looking for deep discounts, holiday cheer, and a perfect place for their kids to burn off some post-Thanksgiving energy will find all three this Thanksgiving weekend at the Delaware Children’s Museum.

Starting on Black Friday and throughout the holiday weekend, new memberships will be 25 percent off, the best deal the DCM offers on memberships all year long. Plus, look for special doorbuster deals at the Fun In Store gift shop, including 40 percent off great gifts like Melissa & Doug Role Play costume sets, Li’l Gourmet Stainless Steel Cookware, and Ein-O Science Environmental Science Kits. And DCM members will receive a 20 percent discount on store purchases all weekend long, twice as much as the 10 percent discount they usually enjoy.

While parents shop, the kids can play on Black Friday:
“Open Studio” (10am-3pm)

Craft your own harvested corn, paint on the easels, try out our water table filled with flax seed, and unwind in a bean bag chair with a good book.
“Dinosaurs in My Basement” (10:30-11am and 12:30-1pm)
Join us in the “DCM Basement” with author Deborah Lomax-Reid, who will take us on an amazing adventure in her book, Dinosaurs in My Basement, where the past finds its way to the present. Afterwards, Lomax-Reid will be signing copies of the book, which can be purchased in the Fun in Store gift shop.
“Pirate Obstacle Course” (11am-12pm and 1-2pm)
Ahoy, Bucko! Take a peek into the life of a deckhand on a pirate ship and help us swab the deck, fire the cannons, walk the plank, and jump islands to end up at the pirate loot.
“Pirate Story Time” (12-12:30pm and 2-2:30pm)
Bill Stubbles, local Kalmar Nyckel pirate and yarn weaver, will answer the age-old question,"Do Pirates Take Baths?" in this cheerful, silly book about life as a pirate. Pirate Bill will also share some pirate fact from fiction . . . and all the legends in between. Following the story, you can make your own pirate hook to take home.
