DCCA Announces David Myer Exhibition

WILMINGTON, Del. — The Delaware Center for the Contemporary Arts is pleased to present the latest installation of acclaimed sculptor David Meyer on view from November 2- December 9, 2007.

Separated by Sight  #3 is an installation of unique forms scattered throughout an interior space. Each form is a derivative of a photo-based image and consists entirely of small piles of flour grouped together. The thousands of piles of flour contained within each of the forms vary in size and are based on the tonality of the original image. While certain obscure forms create a state of doubt, the defined nature of other forms provides a lucid moment of recognition that questions the relationship to the surrounding forms. Separated by Sight #3 will be featured in the Beckler Family Members’ Gallery. Meyer will speak about his work on Friday, November 2 during the Art on the Town Art Loop at 6:30 p.m.

David Meyer (Newark, DE) holds an MFA from the University of Delaware and a BFA from the Kansas City Art Institute.  He has shown his work widely, including most recently at the University of Delaware University Gallery, Montgomery College in Takoma Park, MD, and The Art Trust in West Chester, PA.  He is the recipient of an Individual Artist Fellowship from the Delaware Division of the Arts and has received awards for his participation in the DCCA’s 2005 and 2007 Members’ Juried exhibitions.

David is also noted for designing and developing large-scale outdoor installations. In 1997, David was commissioned by the Archdiocese of Oklahoma to create a monument adjacent to Murrah Building site in recognition of the Oklahoma City bombing victims. David was awarded commissions for Main Street, Newark and the Oklahoma Tribal Monument at the Oklahoma State Capitol.
