Blue Rocks to Host Holiday Toy Drive
NORTH POLE – Don’t be alarmed if you see a sleigh hovering above the Wilmington sky, because the Wilmington Blue Rocks are excited to announce that Santa Claus will be landing into Frawley Stadium on Saturday, December 8, 2007 from 12 noon-2 p.m. Santa has agreed to come help the Blue Rocks collect toys for the first ever Blue Rocks Holiday Toy Drive. The Drive kicks off Monday, November 26 and runs through December 19. You can drop off your toys during normal business hours, and during our extended collection hours on Saturday, December 8. So, you’d better watch out, you’d better not cry, you’d better get out to Frawley and donate toys!
The Blue Rocks will be opening The Quarry Souvenir Store on Saturday, December 8 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. for donations to the toy drive. No need to bring a camera because the Blue Rocks will take your picture with Santa and e-mail it to you. Santa’s favorite blue moose, Rocky Bluewinkle, will be on hand as well. Stadium tours will also be available and fans will have chances to win cool Blue Rocks stuff!
The Blue Rocks Holiday Toy Drive benefits the Mary Campbell Center's Children and Youth Program. The Mary Campbell Center is a community of persons with disabilities, along with the staff and volunteers who assist them each day. The Children and Youth Program offers unique activities for children with special needs, ages 3-21, and their families. The main focus of the program is to improve the social and recreational skills of the participants through play, while promoting independence, self-esteem and growth. We strive to promote positive peer interaction, physical development, creative expression, problem solving and teamwork.
Don’t forget the Blue Rocks Holiday Packages will also be on sale starting Friday, November 26. For information, call the Blue Rocks at 302-888-2015.
