Friday Flicks Coming to Riverfront
(WILMINGTON, DE) July 22, 2010 — The Riverfront Development Corporation of Delaware will host Friday Flicks, a free, outdoor movie series at Justison Landing Park, every Friday in August, beginning August 6. The theme of the movie series is “Dream Big”.
The event will begin with activities presented by the Delaware Children’s Museum, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., followed by a movie at 7:45 p.m. All movies in the series are rated PG. The public is encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets.
“We have this wonderful green space along the Riverwalk, and we saw an opportunity to present a family-friendly activity in a unique place on our Riverfront,” said Megan McGlinchey, director of operations for the Riverfront Development Corporation of Delaware, which manages Justison Landing Park. The public is encouraged to visit one of the fabulous restaurants along the Riverfront prior to each movie. These restaurants include: Harry’s Seafood Grill, FireStone Roasting House, Kooma, Joe’s Crab Shack, Iron Hill Brewery, Big Fish Grill, Timothy’s and Molly’s Old Fashioned Ice Cream & Deli. In addition, vendors on-site will be selling traditional movie snacks and beverages. Parking is available in the Crescent Garage on Justison Street for a flat rate of $2 per car, after 5:30 p.m. until the garage closes at 1:30 a.m.
The movies in the Dream Big series are:
August 6 – Field of Dreams
August 13 – Rudy
August 20 – The Rookie
August 27 – Invincible
At the end of each movie, the RDC will be raffling off either baseball or football memorabilia.
