Delaware Museum of Natural History

At the Delaware Museum of Natural History, visitors can travel back 150 million years and stand awed before two Chinese dinosaur skeletons. Then, they can return to modern times to stare into the fearsome eyes of the Great Horned Owl, found throughout Delaware today.

Visitors are transported to the searing region of West Africa to view exotic animals at a watering hole. Then to the lush forests of the Philippines where vibrantly colored birds speckle the verdant background.

Highlights include:

  • A Visit to an African Waterhole
  • A Walk over the Great Barrier Reef
  • The Largest Bird Egg in the World
  • Extinct and Vanishing Birds
  • A 500 Pound Clam
  • Delaware's only dinosaurs

DMNH also boasts an impressive research collection of shells. In fact, it is one of the ten largest in the country and still growing. With traveling exhibits that change throughout the year, and one of the first completely interactive discovery rooms in the country, there's always something new to see and do.

Walks, lectures, films, workshops, tours, pre-school and weekend science programs, overnights, traveling exhibits and special events contribute to the visitor's experience.
