Riverwalkers Program

Riverwalkers is a Riverfront Wilmington program that encourages regular walking to promote better health and fitness, all while enjoying the beautiful Wilmington Riverfront.  Using a 1-mile course on the Christina River’s scenic Riverwalk, the program rewards participants who achieve a goal of at least 30 miles during a 6-week period (four challenges per year – see below).  Once participants reach this goal, they will be eligible for a prize. 

A second aspect to the program is the Riverwalkers Corporate Challenge.  Each team will consist of no more than 15 people, and teams will compete against other teams on a per capita basis.  All teams must use the Riverwalk to log their miles.  There will be four separate Riverwalkers challenges, each lasting 6 weeks.  The team with the most miles logged in that period, on a per capita basis, will be the winner of a prize.

A third aspect is the Riverwalkers Family Challenge.  It would be structured in the same way as the Corporate Challenge, but instead of a corporate team, a family would create a team (of 3 to 6 people each, with at least one being under the age of 18) and would compete against each other over a 6-week period, for prizes. 

We will also give prizes to the person/corporate team/family team that walked the most miles total and/or those that walked during all 4 challenges.
